Heart and Home is intentionally limited to just eleven children, creating a warm and close-knit environment where every child feels known, supported, and genuinely valued. The small group size allows real friendships to develop and ensures every child receives individual attention throughout the afternoon. To make your family’s routine easier, we also provide safe and reliable van pickup from Dr. Pat Henderson Elementary School and Nathan Kallison Elementary School. From the moment the school day ends, your child is welcomed into a caring, family-style atmosphere where they can relax, grow, and feel at home.
Spaces to Learn, Play, and Recharge
Our cozy movie room offers a place for kids to unwind and enjoy time with friends after a long school day. The technology station includes educational tablets that strengthen learning development through interactive, age-appropriate activities. Outdoor play gives children the chance to run, play sports, and burn off energy in a safe and supervised environment. Inside, our arts and crafts activities encourage imagination and self-expression, giving each child a creative outlet they look forward to every day. Whether they are learning, creating, relaxing, or playing, every moment is designed to help them grow and feel happy here.
Meet Ms. Evelyn
I am passionate about creating a space where children feel safe, valued, and truly at home. I am a proud alumna of the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My journey in education began as a Teach For America corps member, where I learned the power of building strong relationships with children and families while supporting students both academically and emotionally.
I have had the privilege of serving as a dual language teacher with San Antonio ISD, helping students grow their confidence and language skills, and later as an assistant principal with Compass Rose Public Schools. These experiences shaped my belief that children thrive when they are understood as individuals and supported in all areas of their development.
I am accredited in social emotional learning and deeply committed to nurturing the whole child. My approach is Montessori-inspired, where I serve as a guide rather than a director, allowing children the freedom to explore, express themselves, and take ownership of their learning in a supportive and structured environment. I believe that when children feel trusted and empowered, they develop confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love for learning.
Above all, I am a wife and mother. My husband, Tevin, and our son, Travis, are at the heart of everything I do. Heart and Home was created from my own desire to provide children with the same love, care, and intentional guidance I want for my own family. Every child who walks through our doors is welcomed as part of our community, and it is my joy to support them as they grow, learn, and flourish.

When schools are closed, Heart and Home seamlessly transitions into full-day care so families never have to scramble for childcare.
